Answers from Baltimore!!

Hi Everyone! I want to share some info I received last week. The doctor from Baltimore who has been reviewing Nathan's case called me. He has looked at the films I sent and said the stones do appear to be growing. He does agree that due to Nathan's size he doesn't want to intervene unless absolutely necessary. However, he states these stones must be monitored very closely over the next few months. He said Nate should have a urine culture done at least once a month if not every two to three weeks to be sure there is no sign of infection. He also wants us to have another ultrasound of the kidneys done at the beginning of December and to send the films to him to compare. He said now that Nate is off ALL meds the stones should not grow. If they do, it is possible that they are not caused by the meds at all. He does want us to come up there for an appointment but it will be after the next ultrasound, hopefully after Christmas. I feel so much better after talking to him. He explained some of the simplest things to me that these docs around here just refuse to take time to tell you. He said he, or his nurse, will keep in close contact with us. Now for the upsetting news.....Nathan has lost weight. Two weeks ago he weighed 11 pounds 11 ounces. When we went to the doc last week he was down to 11 pds 3 ounces! His appetite has not been that great lately but he is getting two teeth at the same time so I figured that was why he wowuldn't eat. Now I am a little concerned that something else is going on. I am still trying to get some answers from the genetic testing we had done in July but I'm not having much luck. His peditrician is looking into a supplement to put him on but so far I haven't heard back from her yet. I hope we don't have another issue on our hands with him. He has been through enough and it's time he straighten up and be a healthy baby!! I will keep everyone updated on any info I get! Thanks to all who still keep up with this blog. It helps me to post my thoughts and concerns and know others are still praying so hard for our family. To all our old friends and to the new ones we have been blessed to meet on this journey, I will never be able to say thank you enough for your prayers and concerns. We love all of you!
